fine fossils

A fossil can be almost anything that was once alive but that has been turned to stone. This process, called petrification or fossilization, may occur in a number of different ways, but virtually all involve great spans of time and tremendous pressure.

Fossils can be found almost everywhere on earth, from the tops of the Himalyas, to the ancient land masses under Antarctic ice. Leaves, insects, bones, tree limbs, sea shells, even footprints, can be fossilized if conditions were correct both for theirinitial formation and their eventual discovery.
